Records of 1,800 Lake County students ‘inadvertently shared,’ district says — Winter Garden Schools news

Lake County Public Schools is working to notify the families of some 1,800 students that their education records were shared with someone unauthorized to receive them. The district says it recently discovered that the confidential records were “inadvertently shared.” The district does not give specifics on what is in the records. In a news release, the district said it’s reached out to the person who received the records to get them permanently deleted and not shared with anyone else. “We are also pursuing additional legal measures to protect the confidentiality of these records,” the news release said.Parents should get a notification if their child was affected by this. The district says it’s also looking at its internal procedures to make sure it doesn’t happen again.
